USAID/PERU Proyecto PRA

Why invest with USAID in the PRA?

Phase 2 of the PRA (2009-2014) seeks to expand the impact and sustainability of the initiative by enrolling private and public entities. The objective remains the same, that is, to promote the economic development of Peru’s Sierra and Selva by making the market work for the poor.

USAID offers four central elements to companies and programs potentially interested in joining the initiative:

  • Ample experience in development project management. USAID has promoted development during more than 40 years in five continents and more than 80 countries.
  • A market- and demand-based approach, tested for over 10 years during Phase 1 of the PRA.
  • Sound accountability, both technical and administrative, through a system for monitoring resource use and results.
  • A co-financing scheme designed to pool efforts between USAID and its partners.
